Things To Do in the Summer...

Moose and calf

From the cabin you can canoe, mountain bike, swim and hike. A great area for bird watching is along the adjacent Lima Mountain Grade road.

Moose viewing is a regular activity along the Gunflint.Trail. You are likely to come across moose anywhere and at anytime during the year along the Trail. Among the best seasons for viewing are in June shortly after the moose cows start taking their calves out to feed and during the rutting season in late fall. The best places to spot moose are swampy areas where they go to dine in the evening.

At Poplar Creek Guesthouse we often see moose walking through the yard early in morning. The creek that runs in front of the Poplar Creek Retreat Cabin is also a favorite dining spot for moose.
