The Banadad Ski Opens--Guesthouse Extends Early Winter Special
Grand Marais, MN - With five to six inches of snow in the central Gunflint area, eight kilometers of the Banadad Ski Trail is now open for skiing. According to Ted Young, Banadad trail maintenance coordinator, "You can now ski from the Banadad's eastern trail head up to the old logging camp- see Banadad Trail map at http://www.boundarycountry.com/banadad.html. This is the earliest that we have been able to get onto the trail in years. We are still working on portions of the trail, but the entire trail should be opened and tracked by the first week in December."
The 29-kilometer Banadad Ski Trail's eastern trailhead is located thirty miles out of Grand Marais along the Gunflint Trail. Most of the Trail is in the BWCA and it is the longest tracked ski trail in the Boundary Waters.
The Poplar Creek Guesthouse B&B, located at the eastern end of the Banadad, has extended its Early Winter Special until December 19. Up to this date any room in the B&B will be available for $69/night for two people, without breakfast. Additional information available at http://www.littleollielodging.com/
